Research shows that when students have a positive view of themselves as a reader they are more motivated and demonstrate greater achievement. Yet, this is not the case for many students. What can educators do to improve reader self-perception? In 2017, I completed my Master's thesis on this topic. In this presentation, I will share the findings of my action research and discuss practical strategies that teachers can use across disciplines to improve students' reader self-perceptions.
